LETRAS ORFAS

Exhibited at Fundación Vicente Risco, Allariz, Spain 2021, this project is inspired by the story of Romasanta—the only person ever judged as a werewolf—and offers a poetic exploration of his handwritten letters from the 1850s, revealing stories of absence, identity, and memory.

Letras Orfas is a body of work born from historical fragments—letters written in the 1850s, found during research in the Galician archives in La Coruña. These texts became echoes: voices suspended between truth and fiction, tenderness and manipulation. Letters sent to families, weaving stories of hope, reinvention, and distant futures that never existed.

The project explores absence, identity, and the power of narrative to both conceal and reveal. What happens when a voice pretends to be another? When care masks disappearance? These works linger in the space between presence and loss, memory and myth.
